Privacy Policy
Last updated June 5, 2026
Apiary is built to collect as little about you as possible. Here is exactly what we touch, why, and how to make it go away.
This is a plain-language starting policy, written for transparency. It is not legal advice and has not yet been reviewed by an attorney. Questions or requests: help@apiary.app.
What we collect
- A small identity cookie (named
bb_visitor) so the bee-world can remember your builds and show who is present. Clearing it resets you to a fresh visitor. - Account info, only if you create an account — a handle, and an email if you provide one.
- Things you post in the community / forum, which are public by design.
- Gameplay & presence— your bee's position and name while you're in the world, so other players can see you. This is short-lived.
- Basic, privacy-respecting usage signals (e.g. that a visit happened, rough session length) to keep the site healthy. No ad-tracking, no selling.
- Donations, if you make one, are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
How we use it
To run the game and community, show live presence, save your builds, process voluntary donations, and keep the service working. That's it. We do not sell your data and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that make Apiary run — our hosting and data providers (e.g. Vercel and Upstash) and our payment processor (Stripe). They process data on our behalf to deliver the service, not for their own marketing. We may disclose information if required by law.
Children
Apiary is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, email help@apiary.app and we will delete it.
Cookies
We use one small functional cookie (bb_visitor) for presence and saving your builds — not for advertising. You can clear it any time from your browser, or use Clear my session.
Your choices & rights
You can clear your session at any time, and you can ask us to delete information tied to you by emailing help@apiary.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion); just ask and we'll honor them.
Retention
We keep things for as long as needed to run the service and no longer. Presence data is transient; cleared sessions are gone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
